Q. CorelDraw X8 came out recently so when can I expect the upgrade for my software so that it is compatible with it?

A. Due to the current instability with X8 and the many updates that are being applied to it, many of which involving VBA. Laser Jump Start has chosen to postpone any major work on software updates until X8 has reached a stable point.  Future updates may be made to allow our programs to work on the new versions.

Q. CorelDraw versions X7/X8 have been available for some time, when can I expect the LJS main program upgrades to be completed so I can start using the LJS programs in CorelDraw versions X7/X8?

A. Laser Jump Start has developed some upgrades for CorelDraw X7/X8; however, some program features are not compatible with CorelDraw versions X7/X8 at this point. Instead of releasing upgrades with reduced features; we've decided to hold release until full compatibility is reached and CorelDraw has released their X8 update enabling our software to function normally with the standard installation process. We apologize for the delay and appreciate your patience.

Q. Why doesn't FlexIt automatically create the interior pieces for outlines within my main design?

A. FlexIt is a very complex program and was originally designed for exterior flexing pieces, cones, and hinges. The BoxIt Suite is fully capable of processing interior and exterior pieces which when combined with FlexIt allows for a user to create the Flexible interiors, exteriors, and the option for Plug, Plug w/ hole, and so much more.

Q. I see the option for Primary and Secondary Lines, but what is the difference?

A. Primary Line Style is the base setting for materials and gives a good balance between flexibility and rigidity.  If more flexibility is needed the Secondary Line style is available, which in most cases will increase the flexibility of the part by double what the Primary Line Style does.

Q. Why is my part not able to bend around the contour of the shape I made?

A. This is caused by the material being to stiff for your settings.  To fix this you need to increase the flexibility option in the program window to a higher number or switch to Secondary Line Style if you haven't already.

Q. I don’t have CorelDraw, can I still use the FlexIt Suite program.

A. No, you cannot use the FlexIt Suite program without CorelDraw. The FlexIt Suite program operates within CorelDraw, thus CorelDraw is a prerequisite. It is compatible with Version 12, X3, X4, X5 and X6.

Q. Could I familiarize myself with the program by reviewing the manual?

A. Yes, but only after you have paid for the program then you will have access to the FlexIt Suite manual.

Q. I have multiple computers, can I use the same FlexIt Suite program disk to install on all my computers?

A. Yes, however you can only install one computer with your serial number. You may us the same disk and purchase additional licenses however we will assign a letter behind your serial number for registration and tracking purposes. Additional licenses of your serialized FlexIt Suite program are $49 per additional computer. Call Laser Jump Start at 208-697-5587 to purchase additional licenses and we will indicate a letter after your FlexIt Suite serial number for your 2nd or 3rd copies.

Q. My business already has a profitable niche market. What could the FlexIt Suite offer me?

A. The FlexIt Suite allows you an opportunity for additional growth and products by developing unique products that apply toward your current niche, or can supplement your current niche market.

Q. My business does not have a niche market. How can the FlexIt Suite enhance my business?

A. If your business does not have a niche market, the FlexIt Suite software program provides a quick and easy opportunity to design and cut unique, personalized, and functional products to help create your business’s niche market.

Q. What type of training will I receive with my FlexIt Suite program purchase?

A. You will have a comprehensive manual included on the disk that explains how to use the program. If you wish to learn more, we do offer a training CD that has many different training videos that you can watch.

Q. The FlexIt Suite’s list price is high in comparison to other macro programs, why is that?

A. When you buy the FlexIt Suite you are actually getting 3 different capabilities in one program. You receive FlexIt, Living Hinge, Cone, and CurveBox all within one program. So, you are receiving an amazing suite of NEW capabilities for a very low price of $189 to greatly enhance your business’s capabilities. The program will be paid for just by selling a few projects not to mention the potential for many re-orders. The best part of this approach in design is that the designs are yours to keep for future orders. They are designed by you and are owned by you.

Q. What is cutting Kerf? How do you determine the cutting kerf for FlexIt Suite projects?

A. The cutting kerf is the distance of the width of the slot that is created by the laser beam when cutting through a piece of material. This displacement can be measured by simply cutting a 1.0 by 1.0 inch square with your laser. If you measure the resultant square (with calipers) you will find that the square is not 1.0 by 1.0. It will be smaller. You take the dimension (e.g., 0.996”) and subtract it from 1.0”. So if you measure the square to be 0.996 then your cutting kerf if 0.004. You will use this number with your Box-It suite and the program will compensate the size of the parts so that you can either fit the parts tightly or loose. If you know the cutting kerf is 0.004 and if you want the parts to fit loose, input into the program that your cutting kerf is smaller (e.g. 0.003”).

Q. I am very excited about the new capabilities I will have using the FlexIt Suite program! I have told many of my customers about the new products I can offer them. I don’t have time to read the manual; I need to get these orders processed ASAP! Can’t I just follow the Quick Install and Getting Started page and start using the program immediately?

A. Its wonderful that your customers are so excited about the new products you can produce. However, you need to take the time and read the manual before you start making products for resale. It’s very important that you spend the extra time upfront to gain a solid program understanding; otherwise you may become frustrated on how to perform different operations due to the lack of program knowledge. We want you to be successful with the FlexIt Suite, so we strongly suggest that you familiarize yourself with the entire program to take full advantage of all your new capabilities. The time you spend upfront familiarizing yourself with the program will pay off in the long-run. Give yourself and your business the jump start you both deserve—first read and view the learning materials we have provided you! You will be a lot happier in doing so.

Q. My FlexIt Suite program is not installing properly. What should I do?

A. When in doubt—follow the Quick Install instruction page and read the manual. If the Standard Install process isn’t working for you, try the Manual Installation. You may have to reinstall your version of CorelDraw if Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) was not originally selected during your CorelDraw installation.

Q. One of the program capabilities isn’t working properly. What should I do?

A. Double check your settings first and review the manual again. If your settings are correct please email our technical support at support@laserjumpstart.com so we can help you resolve the problem.

Q. Does my one-time purchase of the FlexIt Suite give me lifetime program upgrades?

A. New program versions that offer additional capabilities will require an additional purchase to take full advantage of the upgraded program. You will be allowed a significant discount to purchase these new capabilities if we offer new versions of the software in the future.

Q. Can you tell me more about other problems we might encounter when installing the software in different versions of CorelDraw in either Windows XP, Windows 7, or Windows 8?

A. Different versions of CorelDraw have mild issues when working in different operating systems. We have prepared a chart that helps explain some of these issues. These problems do not pertain to our program however they do pertain to the version of software and how it operates under different operating systems. As an example, Version X5 was designed for Windows 7 and it allows our program to install very easily. However, the older versions of CorelDraw, while they may install in Windows 7, do not operate that easily in the Windows 7 environment. We have provided updates for version X4 of CorelDraw so you can try using some of those updates to make the installation a little easier. Please also remember, the manual installation will only take 5 or 10 minutes more and then you’ll be off using the program without issues. See the Chart below for a better understanding.

Q. I have a lot of detail on the outline of my my artwork. As a result, my lines are not straight and perhaps jagged in some cases. The results of the FlexIt macro has some unusual parts that it will design. What can I do to make this problem go away?

A. You have too many deviations with your artwork. As a result, (depending on the thickness of your material) the program is trying to design parts that are thinner than your material. Since your design has small jagged edges, the FlexIt program is going to have lines in the resulting artwork that are not usable. These lines represent small parts that are no possible to make. The program did its job but the original design will not work on thick materials. Our recommendation is to change the mutliple jagged lines into a single curved line and allow the program to convert the curves to the least number of parts. You will achieve similar results and the product that you are designing will be easier to assemble.

Q. I am trying to do a simple 2″ cube using .192″ wood. My tabs are set to .375, and I’ve measured my kerf at .014. Everytime I cut, the pieces will not fit. The tabs are larger than the holes by .019″. When I moved my kerf up to .020″, the tabs increased in size to .029″ bigger than the slots. It looks like the kerf is being applied to the wrong piece. Should I be using a negative number for the kerf or is there another setting I am missing?

A. Your cutting kerf is too large. Perhaps you have measured it in error. Or perhaps it is 1/2 of the 0.014 ” that you thought it was. It may seem counter intuitive but to make the parts fit very tight, you program the cutting kerf to a larger value. If your cutting kerf is 0.004″ and you program the kerf to be 0.006″, then your parts will fit very tight and perhaps will not fit at all. Try decreasing your cutting kerf. (follow-up indicated that the customers cutting kerf was 0.006″ and not 0.014″.

Q. Why do I have to pay extra to install this on my other computers?  After all, Corel lets me install the program on several computers.  Your company seems very greedy

A. We originally planned on including extra seat licenses for the FlexIt Suite at $395 along with a printed manual and more elaborate packaging. Laser Jump Starts believes laser users should have access to our laser software solutions for their business at affordable pricing. We want all laser users to have the opportunity to benefit from our laser software; therefore, extra seat licenses were removed and packaging scaled down to pass on the savings to our customers. Many customers do not have a need for extra seat licenses (extra installations); therefore, we didn’t want to charge customers for extra seat licenses they were not going to use.

You indicated that you thought our company was “greedy” for applying a charge for extra installations; however, our company is very fair and honest. We want to point out that our software is extremely complex in its capabilities; however very user friendly—this is our goal when developing our software programs. The FlexIt Suite took in excess of 2 years to develop through a highly skilled team of engineers, computer programmers, and laser users. The development cost associated with the FlexIt Suite program have yet to be recovered, and may take several years before these costs are met. The software was intended for laser users hence we do not have a broad market in which to sell our products. Hence, the programs are seemingly more expensive than other software solutions.
